Mrs. Major Stewart of the Island of Java composed by William Marshall (1748-1833)
The Mrs. of the title was Margaret Fraser of Newton near Beauly, who married Ludovick Stewart of Pittyvaich. Stewart was a Major in the 24th Regiment of Foot (the South Wales Borderers), serving in India and the Island of Java.
Snow Plough composed by Dan Hughie MacEachern (Queensville, Cape Breton 1913 – 1996) - Reel in A. Dan Hughie was a fine fiddler who never made a commercial recording but a CD has been released of his home recordings. The CD is out of production but some of the tunes are on YouTube.
