Information/Write-up

In early 1952, Lilah Levac became the singer with Fernand Héneault French at Cabaret Casino, followed by the orchestra at Café Provincial towards the end of 1953. She then sang for nine months at Aloha Lounge du Casino français (August 1955-May 1956). She had her own weekly radio show, "Le chant des îles" (The Song of the Islands) on CKVL, where she performed songs with the Hawaiian Alex Corbo. In 1956 she played with Fernand Héneault at the Danuble bleu à Saint-Sulpice; she then spent several years at Café Provincial. She became known to a wider audience during her time with the show "La dame de coeur" (CJMS), led by Andre Rancourt. That year, she won a recording contract with Columbia and recorded a 10" in 1957 entitled "Chansons Romances". The following year she recorded an LP "Lilah Levac Chante" with Fernand Heneault et Sone Orchestre. With Fernand Héneault, Lilah Levac played at Saint-Denis, as well as Pheasant Lounge blue in the summer of 1957. The chanteuse continued to perform in cabarets including Cafe Saint-Jacques in January 1963, where she remained very popular.
