Liner notes
The warm water washed lazily upon the white beaches of the lush tropical island known as Jamaica. Inland at a small club in the capital city of Kingston, a boy of nine was being helped off stage to thunderous applause.
Tony Kingston had just begun a singing career that would take him halfway 'round the world! Later in his teens, Tony left the Caribbean sailing north to England to further his education. Upon completion of his studies the personable young entertainer soon found himself busily engaged playing all the major night spots throughout the United Kingdom. London took Tony to his heart, and it wasn't long until he was making appearances on numerous television and radio shows.
With two smash recordings to his credit, the exciting “Mr. K.” found himself sharing the stage with such international stars as Johnny Cash, Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker, and Sammy Davis Jr. to name only a few.
Looking for new worlds to conquer, Tony crossed the Atlantic once more, this time to Canada. That was a little more than a year ago. In that time, what with guest spots on CBC radio and television and the better supper clubs throughout the major cities, this exciting stage personality has been making quite a name for himself.
In Canada, Tony has appeared with such well-known artists as Juliette, Guido Basso, Russ Little, Mike McConnell and Jodie Drake among others.
Marathon Records caught his act one night and were quick to sign “Mr. Excitement” to a recording contract. In this album Tony has gathered together a great collection of songs and is backed by some of the finest musicians on the scene today.
Tony has dedicated this recording to his many fans throughout Canada, England and the Caribbean and you can rest assured this is only one of many more to come.
Welcome to Canada, Tony.
