Northern Wind b/w Turn Down the Roses

Don Jewitt’s Between Hello And Goodbye (1979) is a sharply produced Canadian private-label pop-rock LP cut through Toronto’s professional studio circuit. Produced by Don Geppert, the album was recorded and mixed at Captain Audio Studios and mastered by Al Moy at The Lacquer Channel Limited, giving the record a clean, commercial sound despite its independent release. All songs on the album were written by Don Jewitt and John Grant, establishing a consistent songwriting partnership at the core of the project. In 1980, two tracks from the album were issued as a rare picture-sleeve single, “Northern Wind” b/w “Turn Down the Roses,” released on World Record Corp. / Karat Records (WRC3-1480 / KRT-1005 / KRT-1006) and credited to Thunder Bay, Ontario, extending the album’s life beyond its initial LP format. Jewitt is backed by a strong supporting lineup including Tony Kosinec, Dave Nichol, and Robbie King.

That same Jewitt–Grant songwriting partnership continued into the mid-1980s, when Jewitt returned to national visibility through a pair of singles credited to Don Jewitt & Cheryl Grant on Rosedale Records. The 1984 release “Flash of Love” (RDR-2014) appeared on RPM’s Singles Chart, marking a documented return to the Canadian charts several years after the LP. This was followed by “You’ve Always Got Me” (RDR-107) in 1986, also written by Jewitt and Grant. The single was produced by Jewitt himself, engineered by Rich Dodson, published by Balsam Music, and manufactured and released by Rosedale Records, with distribution by The Moss Music Group.
