Information/Write-up
Liner notes by Stompin' Tom Connors:
The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, That's the name of the group who have continually been associated with Country Music at the Horse Shoe Tavern in Toronto for the past three years or more. Commencing as a strong back-up group for all kinds of Country Singers, they have now emerged into the foreground as one of the most dynamic trios Canadian Country Music has come up with. Without having to mention the high recommendations given these boys by the many Nashville Stars they have worked with, I would like to point out, that for me, their ability as musicians is the only recommendations they'll ever need. Mickey Andrews, for instance, is one of the most resourceful and imaginative steel-guitar players I've ever seen. Gerry Hall is not only an experienced lead guitar man, but has such an easy and casual way of singing, that he leaves with each song a part of his own unique self. The backbone of the group is Randy McDonald who provides the rich, deep, foundational bass sounds that are so indispensable to every band; and as a singer, his voice is clear and deep and provides the nice contrast needed when there are two singers in the same group. So with these marks of distinction, 'The Good, The Bad And The Ugly' have won me over as a fan, and as a friend I would like to wish them all the very best, as they have endeavoured to give you their very best on this album.
Sincerely,
Stompin' Tom Connors
