Information/Write-up

Eria Fachin was a Canadian pop and dance vocalist active in the late 1980s, associated with Toronto’s independent freestyle, synth-pop, and Hi-NRG recording scene. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, she emerged during a period when Canadian dance artists were increasingly engaging with international club and radio trends, particularly those circulating through European-influenced pop and North American freestyle.

Her recorded legacy centers on the 1988 album My Name Is Eria Fachin, released on Power Records. Produced by Vincent Degiorgio with co-producer Marco Luciani, the album was created within a close-knit Toronto studio network that included writers and musicians such as Louis Bartolomucci, Angelo Civiero, and Vivienne Williams. The production reflects a polished late-1980s dance aesthetic, blending synth-pop, freestyle, and Hi-NRG with melodic pop songwriting aimed at club play and specialty radio.

Fachin was an active creative participant in the project rather than simply a featured vocalist. She co-wrote a substantial portion of the album’s material, including “Only a Hope,” “Get You Out of My Heart,” “Your Love Just Came Too Late,” and “You’re So Sexy,” demonstrating a strong involvement in both lyrical and melodic development. The album also included stylistic reinterpretations of established pop material, such as the Motown-derived “Eria’s Aria / I Hear a Symphony” and the Scandinavian pop song “Remember Me,” aligning her work with international dance-pop currents of the period.

My Name Is Eria Fachin was manufactured and distributed in Canada by Power Records and Electric Distribution, with mastering handled by José Rodriguez in New York. While no further commercial recordings by Fachin have been documented, the album stands as a well-crafted example of late-1980s Canadian dance-pop, reflecting a moment when Toronto-based producers and artists were creating locally made recordings with global stylistic ambitions.
