About This Title

Encouraged by a friend, Allen Densen, who up to that point had been quietly and modestly playing and recording synthesizers and drum machines at home for his own pleasure, decided to release an LP. As it happened, Sentient Killer Metronomes from Outer Space was one of the very last records pressed in Canada before all the pressing plants closed shop in the early 90's. Allegedly it was so close to the end of the line that there wasn’t even time for a test pressing.

Densen cites his influences at the time as being Tangerine Dream, Derek Bailey and Lol Coxhill, and in line with the latter the album was improvised over two nights with a rented digital delay unit. The resulting album is an intimate electronic soliloquy, a private artifact almost folded forever into the margins of time.
