About This Title

Ray Broderick was born in a small village near Carbonear, Newfoundland, called Freshwater. As far as what Ray did in the early days I cannot tell you anything about it, but I guess that like most musicians he began singing and playing the guitar around home. His first venture into the big time brought a group into Wabush from Ontario in 1969. At that time, Ray was playing with a good friend of his and we became good friends. As a matter of fact, I stayed on in the Labrador City, Wabush area. I’m from Wabush, and Ray, along with myself, Louie Cameron and Nelson Leroux, formed the original Newfoundland Showband.

I left Labrador City in March ’71 taking the name with me, and Ray formed another group called the Good Brothers with which he played the clubs around the area.

Ray does have another group and songs for this man, and you’ve just got to hear them.

Ray is employed at Come By Chance, Newfoundland and he visits his home in Victoria, another village just below Carbonear. He still sings, and will go with his first love, and to show this, his first album. We would suggest hearing a lot more of this fine entertainer.

We wish him every success.
