Greetings from the Ottawa Valley. It had been two years since Mac Beattie had recorded an album, and he was pleased to be back with this one.

The album introduced his daughter Bonnie, who was seventeen years of age and had been singing with the group since she was very young. In addition to singing, Bonnie also had a talent for composing, and her first two efforts, What Is Love and It’s Only Girls Like Me, were included on the album. She also joined Mac on three other songs, including Tonight At My Table All Alone. Mac expressed how proud he was of her and hoped listeners would be too.

Mac contributed six new songs for the album and also re-arranged two of his older ones. Among the new compositions was We’ll Remember Don Messer’s Jubilee, a tribute to two dear friends, the late Don Messer and Charlie Chamberlain. Bob Whitney assisted with vocal parts, and Reg Hill’s fiddling was highlighted on Pizza Polka for the group’s polka-loving fans.

A Dog Called Billy Joe was described as a true story about a little canine friend of the family. The title track, Dad And Daughter, and Don’t Go Near The Water, Dear were included because Bonnie and Mac enjoyed singing together. Wear A Little Sunshine was offered for everyone, in the hope that listeners might bring a little sunshine into their lives with the album.

At the time of release, Bonnie and Mac Beattie were living at 86 Daniel Street N., Arnprior, Ontario, and welcomed letters from listeners.

Mac also extended a special greeting to the group who provided the backing music: Garney Scheel on steel guitar, Reg Hill on fiddle and bass, Merv Wilson on flat top guitar, Jimmy Mayhew on piano, Bob Whitney on clarinet, and Peter Clements on drums. He gave special praise to his good friend Ralph Carlson, who arranged and produced the album.
