Information/Write-up

Liner notes:
Lucio Agostini’s career as a musician began at the age of 14.
The son of composer and conductor, Giuseppe Agostini, Lucio began his musical studies under his father’s tutorship and has since become proficient on woodwind instruments, cello, harmony and musical composition.

The young man soon found himself in his father’s orchestra and by the time he was 16, he was a cellist in the Montreal Philharmonic. He continued his musical studies with Louis Michiels, Henri Miro, and Peter Van der Meerschen.

The name Lucio Agostini is familiar to most Canadians through the national media. For years he composed and scored background music for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s radio shows, Stage and Ford Theatre. His talents in composition, conducting and arranging have also been evident in CBC radio shows such as The Juliette Show, Strictly for Strings, Appointment with Agostini, the Easter Seal Show, Front Page Challenge, The Comedy Hour, Telescope, Music Album, Collage, and Music to Remember. His CBC radio and TV scores number well over 200, and he has composed incidental music for many CBC radio dramas and Shakespeare plays.

Lucio Agostini is one of the most prolific writers in the Canadian music industry, having composed and arranged hundreds of selections. His arrangements and compositions are in the files of the CANADIAN TALENT LIBRARY, whose aim is to provide Canadian radio stations with the finest in recorded Canadian music.

The Agostini orchestra for this session is one of versatility, made up of some of Canada’s finest musicians. It includes five saxophones (doubles on flute and piccolo), three trumpets and four trombones.
