Audie Henry was born of Latvian parents who had moved to Brazil during the outbreak of World War II. The family then moved to Ontario, Canada when she was two years of age. Years later, while working in a Toronto record store, she met country singer Gord Henry, who invited her to sing in his country band. The couple soon teamed up on stage and in life as a husband and wife.
After several years of playing the S/W Ontario club circuit and touring across Canada and the USA, Gord & Audie Henry recorded their debut album "By Request", released on Broadland Records (BR-1922) in 1975. While the duo continued to work their show dates, Audie Henry also launched her career as solo recording artist, debuting on disc with the Gary Buck produced single, "True Western Movie" (Broadland BR-2161) which reached #29 on the RPM charts in 1976. A follow-up single "Something's Gotta Give" (BR-2192) was a song written by Audie Henry and featured on the "By Request" Lp. The next single release on Broadland (BR-2251) was a duet offering by Gary Buck and Audie Henry performing the tune "How Can We Divide All Our Memories", with the B-side of the disc being a solo effort by Audie Henry of the Loretta Lynn classic "Coal Miner's Daughter", which had earlier been featured on the "By Request" album.
After a decade-long absence from the recording scene, Audie Henry was signed to the Dallas, Texas-based Canyon Creek Records label, releasing a steady string of Top 10 hits on Canadian charts. The singles "Heaven Knows" (CCR-5020) and "Sweet Salvation" (CCR-8019) both peaked at #10 on the RPM charts in 1985; while "He's My Gentle Man (With The Gentle Hands) (CCR-0123) was Audie Henry's best chart showing at #4 in 1986; followed closely by the #9 hit "Being A Fool Again" (CCR-0731), and the #8 placement of "All I Really Need" (CCR-0420) in 1987. All of these single releases came from Audie Henry's 1985 self-titled debut album on Canyon Creek Records (CCR-8505).
In 1989 Audie Henry was signed to RCA (BMG) Canada and released the solo album "Heart Of The Country", another collection again produced by Canyon Records' label head Bart Barton. Two singles from the album charted nationally with "I Didn't Know You" (RCA-51031) breaking into the Top 10 with a #9 showing, while a follow-up single, "It's My First Second Time Around" only reached #56 on the RPM charts in 1991.
Gord and Audie Henry now make their home in Bedford, Texas. Their daughter Kristin and son Aaron Henry have both followed in their parent's footsteps, currently pursuing musical careers.
