Born: Jamie Lynn Donald - Yorkton, Saskatchewan, CANADA
Jamie Donald was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and raised in Mission, British Columbia. She began singing at 8 years of age and formed her first band while still in her early teen years. Later she was supported on stage by the band Too Loose To Truck. Jamie worked the Canadian West Coast music scene, opening shows for many top acts including George Jones and Buddy Knox. After several years of paying her dues she was named Most Promising Female Artist in the 1980 British Columbia Country Music Awards.
In 1982 Jamie Donald released her debut album "The Two Sides Of Jamie Donald" (Ahed-AS8223). The album yielded several singles including the nationally charted "I've Got Your Key" b/w "In And Out Of Love", released on Kneptune International (KIR-225) which peaked at # 37 on the RPM charts in 1982. Songwriter, Lloyd Tosoff wrote “I’ve Got Your Key” as well as several other songs covered by Donald and produced by Bob McMullin. The song was covered by Conscious Rednecks in 2015. A follow-up single, "We Were Something" b/w "Don't Call It Love", released on Ahed Records (AH-1007) was one of six songs on the album produced by Canadian musician/ songwriter, the late Doc James (aka Joel Shapiro), who also contributed 3 of his songs to the project.
Jamie Donald appeared on the nationally televised Tommy Hunter TV Show, as well as numerous TV shows emanating from Western Canada. While her recording career was limited, Jamie Donald has remained active on the live entertainment scene in British Columbia, currently fronting the group Phoenix Rising.
