Origin: Toronto, Ontario
Back in October 1976 a chance meeting led to the formation of The Diodes, who would become Toronto’s first punk band. Debuting on Jan 28 1977, the band opened for the Talking Heads at OCA (now OCAD). The Diodes went on to open and run the Crash ‘n’ Burn, Canada’s first and most legendary punk club. They also became the first Canadian punk band to be signed to a major label (CBS) and tour Canada and the US extensively. This is the first official Diodes website, so stop by often as we’ll be posting plenty of interesting info, photos and other exclusive media, along with the details of gigs and new releases.
