Band of the Quebec music scene of the 1990's.
Founded in 1990 and fronted by Dédé Fortin (real name André Fortin), Les Colocs (in English: the roommates) gave Quebecois songs colored with humanity, simplicity and social conscience (especially regarding poverty). They have marked the history of Quebec music with their sound: at first very wild and festive, infused with brass instruments; later more mellow, as well as more inspired by swing, country, blues and African music. This new direction inspired a collaboration with the Senegal-born Les Frères Diouf for the album Dehors Novembre.
Original Members: André "Dédé" Fortin (1990-2000), "Mononc'" Serge Robert (1990-1995), Patrick Esposito Di Napoli (1990–1994), Jimmy Bourgoing (1990–1998), Mike Sawatzky (1991–2000)
Additional Members: Benoît Gagné (1993-1997), Benoît Piché (1993-1997), André Vanderbiest (1996-2000), El Hadji Fall Diouf (1998-1999), Pape Abdou Karim Diouf (1998-1999), Justin Allard (1998-1999), Michel Dufour (1998-1999), Jean-Denis Levasseur (1998-1999), Charles Imbeau (1998-1999)
