Real Name: Oliver John Abbott

O. J Abott (1872 - 1962) was a traditional singer who recorded approximately 120 songs for song-collector Edith Fowke between 1957 and 1961. Born in England, Abott learned most of his songs from Irish farm families and shanty boys in the lumber camps of North Ontario and Québec in the 1880s and 90s. Abott was also a fiddler, caller and step dancer.
