Antigen Shift
Biography
Antigen Shift, the collaborative project of Nick Theriault and Jairus Khan, is a prominent force in the electronic and industrial music scenes. Formed in 2001, the duo has spent over two decades crafting a distinctive sound characterized by its dark, synthetic textures and rhythmic industrial intensity. Their music often explores complex soundscapes, blending pulsating rhythms with intricate, distorted synth lines to create an atmosphere that is both aggressive and introspective.
Their discography showcases a broad range of influences within the industrial genre, from the raw power of power noise to the structured complexity of rhythmic noise. Antigen Shift has released music on a number of respected labels, including Frozen Empire Media, Ad Noiseam, Spectre, and Signifier Records, which speaks to their wide-ranging appeal and critical acclaim. These releases have solidified their reputation as innovators in the field, with albums often being praised for their meticulous sound design and emotional depth. In 2025, the band moved their entire catalogue to Toronto-based Artoffact Records, signing a multi-album and publishing deal.
Beyond their studio work, Antigen Shift is known for their powerful live performances. They have graced the stages of major industrial and electronic music festivals around the world, including the renowned Machinenfest, Kinetik, and Convergence. These live appearances are often intense and immersive experiences, where the duo’s sonic creations are brought to life with a visceral energy that captivates audiences. Their ability to translate their intricate studio productions into a compelling live show is a testament to their skill and passion for their craft. Antigen Shift remains an influential and active project, continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible within the electronic industrial genre.
