Alex Nevsky

In the summer of 2013, with the release of Himalaya mon amour, Alex Nevsky followed up his 2010 debut De la lune à l’aube — the album that earned him the Radio-Canada “Révélation” title. He made a lasting impression with a series of unforgettable songs, including Fanny, Les coloriés, and On leur a fait croire. The latter was crowned Song of the Year at the 2014 ADISQ Gala, taken from the Pop Album of the Year, written and composed by that year’s Male Performer of the Year. What followed was a gold record and months of nonstop concerts and commitments — a rapid rise that led to Nos Eldorados (2016) and Chemin sauvage (2018).

In 2023, the musician resurfaced where no one expected to find him: under the name De la beauté, he released the album Même l’impossible fleurit. Instrumental, open-ended, and contemplative, elevated by lush arrangements, it distilled what its composer described as “a music that has wanted to live for a long time” — a collection of pieces quietly accumulated in the shadow of his pop songs.

Across these nine neo-classical works, Alexandre Parent — his real name — reveals himself as the gifted melodist he has always been: sometimes humbly accompanied by an atypical quartet of horn, flute, and strings; other times alone at a piano that is intimate, fragile, and deeply expressive.

The album resonated widely, gathering millions of streams, while allowing its creator to fully break free from imposed conventions and open himself to Tout ce que l’aube promet.

This fifth album, set for release in spring 2025 on the LABE label, is a project Alex Nevsky approached with the same candor that guided his earliest work. He placed it in a space where expression flows without fear or doubt, supported by the trust and creativity of esteemed collaborators: Marc Bell on production, Maxime LeFlaguais as co-writer, and Salomé Leclerc lending her voice.

The result is a collection of simple, radiant pop songs — bright contours, vivid colours, choruses made to dance to, and ballads that feel immediately personal. Ten songs, each one offering connection. And it’s here, close to everything, that the promise of this new full-length truly takes shape.
