Biography:

Born around 1949–50, Donna Lynn was a teenage recording artist who briefly caught the spotlight during the peak of Beatlemania in the early 1960s. At just 14 years old, she released her debut album Java Jones & My Boyfriend Got a Beatle Haircut in 1964 on Capitol Records—a collection of pop tunes and Beatle-inspired novelties reflecting the cultural moment.

Lynn’s background was already steeped in show business by the time she recorded the album. According to the liner notes, her career began in the Broadway musical Christine, which starred Maureen O’Hara. She reportedly performed in close to 150 shows as a solo variety act before transitioning to the recording studio.

Her novelty single “My Boyfriend Got a Beatle Haircut,” co-written by Bugs Bower and Jack Wolf, became a modest hit and was later featured on the 1982 Rhino Records compilation Beatlesongs. Paired with “Java Jones,” the single earned her recognition among teen audiences, particularly those swept up in the Beatle craze.

While details about her later career remain scarce, Donna Lynn’s brief moment in the pop spotlight left behind a curious artifact of early 1960s youth culture, remembered today by collectors and fans of Beatles-era novelty records.
