Biography
Robbin Wakefield is a Canadian guitarist, composer, and producer based in Toronto, Ontario. Emerging in the late 1980s, Wakefield released his debut instrumental album Midnight at Dawn in 1989 on Dashemi Records. The album showcased his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and arranger, blending smooth jazz, ambient textures, and melodic guitar work. At just 21 years old, Wakefield handled most of the instrumentation himself, collaborating with local musicians including Brian Gagnon and John Woodcock. In 1991, he followed up with A Lightfoot Collection, an instrumental tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, further cementing his reputation as a thoughtful interpreter and craftsman of Canadian melodies. Though details about his later career remain limited, Wakefield's early recordings reflect a refined musical vision rooted in composition and atmosphere.
