Shotgun

In the 27 years that I was an entertainer, musician/songwriter, recording artist, record company executive and, now, a broadcaster, the one thing I never was is a “fan” in the strict sense of the word. Never, that is, until I heard “SHOTGUN”!

“SHOTGUN” is comprised of five individuals, each of whom sings lead and, as a group, deliver some of the finest vocal harmonies you’ll hear anywhere. They are instrumentalists whose virtuosity and expertise on drums, steel, bass, guitar and keyboards have fellow musicians shaking their heads in awe. “SHOTGUN” is a unit whose appearance and stage presence has endeared them to audiences everywhere they have performed. On occasion, when called upon to act as a back-up band, they’ve received raves from the established artists with whom they’ve worked.

When I first heard and saw this country music group, I knew this wasn’t just a back-up or house band but a performing and recording act. And I was right!

The “TURNING POINT” came when, in June, 1985, “SHOTGUN” collaborated with an old friend and songwriter extraordinaire, CYRIL RAWSON, who was starting to make his mark in Nashville. With a half dozen Rawson songs and the outstanding talents of Nashville producer TONY MIGLIORE, “SHOTGUN” completed this long-awaited album. Once you’ve given this record a spin on your turntable I’m sure you’ll agree that the combination of “SHOTGUN’S” talent, excellent song material and fine production is truly a “TURNING POINT” for “SHOTGUN” . . . a vocal/instrumental group that’s in touch with today without forgetting yesterday!
