Biography:

Wayne Rostad began his career in music as a DJ at radio stations in Smiths Falls, Ottawa, and Kingston, Ontario as well as in Grand Falls, Newfoundland.

In the mid-1970’s he was band leader in The Honey West Show, a popular country act touring mostly in Ontario.

Launched his solo recording career in late 1970’s forming his own record label, Stag Creek Records. Released a series of nationally charted singles and three albums on Stag Creek Records. Was named Most Promising New Artist in 1979 RPM Big Country Awards.

His story-telling talents led to hosting of the popular TV series “On The Road Again”, which aired nationally in Canada for 15 seasons. Authored the book”Wayne Rostad: On The Road Again” in 1996, a collection of stories emanating from the TV series.

Founded the “Wayne Rostad Gatineau Clog”, a major outdoor summer festival event held at various locations in Western Quebec, which attracted thousands of fans and featured top acts from Nashville as well as Canada’s top attractions. Opened his own country club “Rostad’s” in downtown Ottawa, with the room playing host to top stars of the day.

Always lending his talents and name to various fund-raising activities, including the special radio show and recording project “Christmas In The Valley”, all of which have helped raised huge sums for various charity organizations. Was the inaugural recipient of the CCMA’s Humanitarian Award in 1989.

Inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2002, and the Canadian Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2010.

Wayne is also a proud recipient of The Order Of Canada.
